    Position Summary


    KNWA & FOX24 are looking for a creative and energetic Digital Director to manage the digital platforms for KNWA & FOX24 News and their interactive content!  As a news department manager, the Digital Director will report to the News Director, supervise a team of digital content producers, work closely with on-air talent to develop unique digital content, and coordinate with the Marketing & Promotions team.


    We're looking for an expert in all things digital. The ideal candidate has both journalism and web chops. They must have strong news judgement and AP Style writing skills, a sense of urgency, understanding of media law and ethics, know how to read and analyze metrics to build a savvy social media strategy, and the ability to manage the back end of a website and app.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage all digital, mobile and social platforms.
    • Create and execute digital content strategies to grow reach and engagement with audience.
    • Oversee digital contributions from other staff members and provide guidance to help improve their work.
    • Develop comprehensive digital coverage plans for major news, weather and sports events.
    • Create proactive strategies to win online during breaking news and severe weather.
    • Oversee digital contributions from other staff members and provide guidance to help improve their work.
    • Work with newscast producers to integrate digital content into newscasts.
    • Write stories, post videos and interact with viewers online and though email and phone.
    • Read and analyze metrics and research industry trends to identify growth opportunities.
    • Participate in daily editorial meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements & Skills:


    • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work related experience preferred.
    • Minimum two years’ experience in a digital role in a television newsroom preferred.
    • Knowledge of content management systems, HTML, CSS, CMS, Google Analytics, Photoshop, and iNews preferred.
    • Fluency in English; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to multi-task, deal with extreme deadline pressure, and react/coordinate coverage under live breaking news situations is crucial.
    • Ability to work extended hours, as needed.
