The Broadcast Engineer operates, maintains, updates and repairs hardware and systems used for broadcasting and business operations.
A successful candidate must be a highly-motivated professional with strong studio, remote, and IT skills and a willingness to learn RF. This candidate will also travel to remote locations during and after normal work hours to perform maintenance and repairs on equipment in that location. Responsibilities also include installing and maintaining the IT network, switches, data backups, work stations, printers and all broadcast technology and equipment for the station.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to stand, sit, reach, climb, conduct conversations verbally and electronically. Make decisions without supervision. Work indoors/outdoors in all weather and environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the individual must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners and other office equipment. Strong PC/MS Office experience. Experience with fiber connectivity, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics systems and editing systems. Experience with digital transmitters, microwave equipment, and other broadcast-related equipment. Significant experience evaluating, selecting, installing, servicing and maintaining broadcasting industry equipment and information technology systems.
Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. Minimum three years’ experience with digital electronics systems in a television broadcasting environment. Background check is required.
