    Position Summary

    Nexstar's WTWO/WAWV, the NBC and ABC affiliates in the Terre Haute, IN, market is looking for a full-time television photojournalist for the 4 a.m. to noon shift Monday through Friday.  Successful candidate must have a keen eye for news, strong non-linear editing skills and an excellent work ethic.  If you are a media/communications professional looking to break into the news business and learn about reporting in the digital age, WTWO/WAWV is the place to be.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Must demonstrate the ability to edit video for newscasts using non-linear computer editing, have knowledge of proper lighting, framing and audio techniques and can consistently shoot creative, well-organized, compelling video.
    • Must have good driving record.
    • Must be willing to work flexible hours and to take on additional duties/challenges as needed.
    • Must be comfortable working under pressure.
    • Additional duties include calling sources, writing brief stories to post on WTWO/WAWV's digital platforms and a willingness to embrace social media as a news gathering/dissemination tool and for audience engagement

    Requirements & Skills:


    • High school diploma
    • Fluency in English
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Minimum two years’ experience operating video recording equipment (More for larger markets and less for smaller markets)
    • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
    • Proficiency with video recording equipment
    • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Flexibility to work any shift


    Physical Demands & Work Environment:

    The News Photographer must be able to stand, sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.  In addition, the News Photographer must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls.  Repetitive movements are required.  Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
