WSAV-TV, the NBC affiliate in beautiful, historic Savannah, Ga. is recruiting for a meteorologist equally confident on our weekend newscasts and digital platforms who believes forecast accuracy is essential. We’re looking for an energetic personality who keeps it interesting on normal weather days and has the knowledge and ability to present severe weather coverage with a mix of calm and urgency. The right applicant engages viewers, works well with colleagues on the set and is an active live reporter in the field. Applicants should have a meteorological degree or educational certification. AMS and NWA seals are preferred. Working toward either certification is mandatory. Knowledge of WSI weather systems and experience with tropical weather are extras. Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The Meteorologist must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Meteorologist must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
