    Position Summary

    The Production Assistant is responsible for various television production duties required to record scenes for live and recorded broadcasts.  This position will begin as Studio Camera Operator with the opportunity to train for Audio Board Operator and CG Operator once proficiency in role is achieved. Pay is $10/hr non-negotiable. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    Position is 20 hrs/wk and will require employee to work Saturdays 5pm-7pm and 9:15pm-11:45pm, and at least one weekday 4:30am-9:15am (day of week is able to be selected by employee but must be consistent).  2 additional shifts will be assigned based on employee's availability and preferences.  


    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    • Adjusts positions and controls of cameras as requested by the director
    • Operates studio cameras during live broadcasts
    • Confers with directors and other crew members to discuss sequences and camera movements 
    • Performs light housekeeping duties to prep sets for broadcast
    • Checks and replaces batteries in studio headsets and microphones as necessary
    • Places and removes teleprompter pedal and cables as needed before and after newscasts
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Requirements & Skills:

    • Punctuality 
    • Schedule flexibility - after training is complete employee with have a fixed, regular schedule but will be asked to fill in at other times with as much notice as possible
    • Reliable transportation
    • Willingness to learn and take direction
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Television production experience preferred but not required 


    Physical Demands & Work Environment:


    The Production Assistant must be able to stand, sit, reach, climb, use electronic mail, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, and make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Production Assistant must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.


    Studio Camera Operator shifts are covered by 5 employees.  Shifts include:

    M-F 4:30am-9:15am

    M-F 4:15pm-6:45pm and 9:15pm-11:45pm (employees assigned on weeknights work both shifts)

    S-Su 5pm-7pm and 9:15pm-11:45pm (employees assigned on weekend nights work both shifts)
