    Position Summary

    The Video Producer/Editor assist with shooting, producing and editing local programming. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Assist in shooting and editing content (full episodes, interviews, segments, and B-roll) for our local programs (Sam Choy’s in the Kitchen, Modern Wahine Hawaii, Aloha Authentic, etc.)
    • Production crew member/camera operator - responsible for setting up and breaking down equipment (camera, lighting, audio, etc.)
    • Sets up, composes, and executes video shots
    • Use Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, etc.) to edit raw footage into a continuous whole according to scripts, specs, and/or instructions from show executive producers
    • Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story
    • Confers with marketing director and other personnel to discuss assignments, work product and desired effects
    • May be required to assist with editing commercial spots for station clients
    • Performs other duties as assigned


    Requirements & Skills:

    • High school diploma
    • Fluency in English
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Must be available 40 hours a week
    • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
    • Minimum two years’ video production experience required (camera operating, lighting, audio, etc.)
    • Minimum two years’ experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects required
    • Some creative/television writing experience preferred
    • Graphic design (print/web) and/or motion graphics experience (Photoshop/Illustrator/After Effects) a plus
    • Must be able to tell a story through editing. Montage-style editors need not apply
    • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment
    • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Some off-island travel may be required


    Physical Demands & Work Environment:

    The Video Producer/Editor must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use e-mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, and work both indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoors in all weather conditions. In addition, the Video Producer/Editor must be able to lift, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls for extended periods of time. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. The Video Producer/Editor may be required to travel off-island.
