WCIA-3 the Local News Leader in central Illinois has an opening for a reporter. We seek a high-energy individual who will chase down leads, break stories and own enterprise reporting.
The successful candidate will be able to work sources, enterprise exclusive news stories and shoot, write and edit stories that are relevant and compelling, both on air and on-line. Our reporters achieve high visibility due to our dominant news product.
This position will also help cover some weekend anchor opportunities. It is limited but will allow the right candidate to gain experience.
Candidates with a college degree in broadcast journalism and reporting experience are preferred. WCIA has a legacy of launching careers.

Duties: Director must be skilled enough to run ELC automation system as well as manually Direct/Technical Direct assigned live and recorded programming utilizing our Sony MVS 8000G. Additionally, the Director must be capable of completing commercial production assignments including field production and post production non-linear editing; directing as-live programs; filling in or direct as needed; and leading tech staff daily. Candidates will also be required to assist in other roles as part of the station's production team, including Audio, Studio Robotics, Satellite Operations and Master Control.
Skills: Candidate must have superb leadership and time management abilities as well as technical knowledge and skills; excellent written and verbal communications; ability to simultaneously direct and technical direct fast paced newscast and other productions; thorough knowledge of broadcast newsroom operations essential; ability to make decisions and work closely with others under pressure; excellent organizational skills; strong knowledge of journalistic standards; computer proficiency.
Experience: Newscast directing experience; knowledge of Production Switchers (Sony MVS 8000 is a plus), Graphics Systems, Non-linear Editing, Studio Lighting and Field Production is a plus.
Education: College degree preferred; Broadcast Journalism or Communication emphasis preferred.

The Weekend Anchor serves as the primary presenter of weekend news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.
